Transcription: TheVerbalVision, Inc

Found another one on my good friend, Wahm.com.

This one is for a transcription company called TheVerbalVision, Inc.

Hey everyone – my name is Ryan, and I work for TheVerbalVision, Inc., a transcription firm based out of New York City. We are currently recruiting for new transcriptionists to join our team, so I figured it couldn’t hurt to make everyone on this board aware of the opening.

The details for the position are below. We do require all applicants to take a brief, unpaid transcription test to verify your skills before we contract for your services. That said, this is an independent contractor position. We will send you a 1099 at the end of the year for tax purposes. However, there are no upfront fees involved, and this is a completely legitimate work from home opportunity. You can learn more about us at www.theverbalvision.com..

For any inquiries about the position or to submit your resume

and receive our test instructions, simply send an e-mail to jobs@theverbalvision.com. If you have any quick questions, you can of course reply to this thread, but any questions can be answered directly via e-mail as well.

The details for the transcriptionist position are as follows:

TRANSCRIPTIONIST (work from home)
Experienced U.S.-based transcriptionists needed to work from home. As this is a virtual position, we require all transcriptionists to check their e-mail accounts at least twice a day for transcription assignments. Average sound file assignments run one hour in length or longer. All transcriptionists will retrieve digital audio files from our FTP site.

Requirements:
+ Must have an excellent grasp of American culture and colloquialism as well as English spelling and punctuation rules
+ Ability to handle accents, background noise, and difficult audio at times highly desired
+ Willingness to spend time looking up medical terminology and follow varying formatting instructions
+ Available to transcribe at least four hours of audio per week
+ Broadband Internet access (required for expedited downloading purposes)
+ Familiarity with downloading from FTP sites
+ Experience with free transcription program Express Scribe
+ Foot pedal

All transcription work for our company is completed by independent contractors. Compensation for this position is $10.25 per fifteen minutes of transcribed audio. It takes most of our transcriptionists about one hour to transcribe fifteen minutes of audio; thus, our pay rate is the approximate equivalent to $10.25 per working hour.

To apply for this position, please e-mail your resume to jobs@theverbalvision.com for immediate consideration. Please note that we require all applicants to take a brief, unpaid transcription test to verify transcription skills. Once you e-mail us your resume, we will send you the instructions for taking our test. Should you pass our testing phase, we will extend to you the offer of our independent contractor transcriptionist position.

Better hurry on this one.

The resumes are flowing in!

Customer Service Jobs Grid

I was on the site, WorkPlaceLikeHome, today and I came across a lovely resource by Rat Race Rebellion that breaks down the call center and/or customer service positions into a very useful grid.

It lists over 80 companies by job type, contractor or employee status, inbound or outbound, and even starting pay.

If you are looking for phone based employment from home, I highly recommend checking it out before applying.

Grapevine Sales

Back on Wahm again and I found a promising opportunity in Grapevine Sales.

As many of you know, Craigslist has made it hard, if not impossible, for you to post multiple ads. Everyone can still post 1 ad but no more than that in a 2 or 3 day time frame. I recently saw someone post on the WAHMs board about “Need 50 – 100 WAHMs to post”. Looks like so far the WAHMs that did do posting never got paid (hopefully they will in the end though).

I want to propose something similar. Let`s face it, I need people to post and I hate the thought of hiring from outside the US or hiring a posting company. So I thought about the idea of 50 – 100 WAHMs posting. In fact, I would like to get 200-300 posting. The other major difference between the other guy and me is that many of you already know me and know for a FACT that I pay. You earn it I pay it!

Here is how I think this can work;
If you want to post, I will give each of you 1 city to post in. You only post 1 ad in that city 1 time every three days.

How can I make this work for you and me? What if I pay you $1.00 per ad and $2.00 per ad that stays live for at least 48 hours and I offer the same bonus as before? If you are only able to post 1 ad every three days then you would only make $2-$4 a week but would only take about 5 minutes. If I sell that city, you then get $25 and a new city. If you have multiple PVAs and want to post in more cities that’s OK too, same rules apply.

If it is a big city, I would then assign that same city to 2 other WAHM’s as well (so that every day there is at least one ad running and I will pay each WAHM a commission based on the number of posts (A minimum of $15 bonus).

If you have any questions, please just send me a message. If you want, you could also post on Kijiji.com, Backpage.com, classifiedads.com and any other place as well. If you post at these other areas I can`t pay any extra but….if a buyer comes in…you get the commission!

This is how I see it and hope that 200 of you will as well;

It`s only 2-4 bucks per week but also only about 5 minutes. No confusion….you get 1 city…when it sells you get $25 and a new city…..Better than the lottery…:}

I am taking on everyone that wants the extra work, So send me a message today and start very soon…:} and thanks!

I pay every Friday by PayPal……:}

Doug

And the good news is that on further reading, the bonus has been raised to $45.

Frankly, the work sounds so easy that I am tempted to go for it myself.

Phone Work: Answering Service, Inc.

Found an advertisement for Answering Service, Inc. on Wahm.com.

Answering Service, Inc. is a 24-7 answering service for Doctors.

You will  need a fast internet connection and a usb port headset.

You do not have to have a landline.

They start at $8 an hour and you can select your own hours.

Apparently this company is very particular about whom it hires, so you may have to be persistent if you have not heard back several weeks after sending in your email.

If you interested in applying, send your resume to: employment@asiny.com

But folks have had better luck with rachel@call-serve.com or Laura@call-serve.com.

Quicktate: Transcription Beginners

Well, I signed up for Quicktate awhile back but I got busy with other things and they justifiably gave me the ol’ heave-ho. Quickate is an excellent company for those just looking to make additional money or those who are looking to get their foot in the door for more lucrative transcription opportunities.

I may sign up with them again as it is really easy work and success at Quicktate will garner you an advancement to their other side, iDictate, which offers more opportunities for money. So, Quicktate is pretty much the gateway for further transcription assignments.

There is no set schedule with this position. You just sign in when you are ready to work. You can do this job while watching tv but have to remote handy to mute when a call comes in.

Get paid for providing support for your plugins and themes

Wow, I’m not a plugin or theme developer by no stretch of the imagination but I can’t help myself when I see the words “affiliate program”.

I’m all about the passive income! Lol.

And the Wordpress HelpCenter is offering you even more than that.

They are voluntarily taking the headache of plugin and theme support out of your hands.

And paying you for allowing them to do so!

Join the affiliate program and get paid when we provide support for your plugins and themes. As an affiliate you can spend more time developing and less time being distracted with support and help inquires. You can rest easy knowing that your users are receiving great support from WordPress experts.

Get Paid, $1 Per Event

Each time we provide paid support on one of your registered plugins or themes, that is an event. Referrals with your affiliate code (even if the support is for something besides one of your plugins or themes) are also events.

For example

  • A user comes to your site looking for plugin support, and is directed to the WordPress HelpCenter from your affiliate badge.
  • If that user chooses to get paid support from the WordPress HelpCenter, you would receive $2 ($1 for the referral, and $1 because we provided support for a plugin you registered with us).

It’s a win-win. You get paid and you get more time to focus on your WordPress development.

To me, this seems totally awesome! Any developers want to chime in?

Wahm Article: The Best Home Business Ideas for a Slow Economy

I recently came across on article on Wahm.com about the best home business ideas for a slow economy.

Frankly, I’m partial to Launch a website. :-)

Or, in my case…a blog.

Or, too be more specific…several blogs!

Especially as with blogs there is really nothing to sell.

You have no boss, no clients, and no customers.

And you can write about whatever you want as long as you stay consistant.

But they also mentioned the standard jobs of being a tutor and selling on ebay.

This article seemed kind of dialed in to me.

Mostly, I go to wahm for the forums, anyway…
